We moved into the house a few months ago so whatever neglect happened was not on our watch.  The first pic shows how tilted the tree is.  It is way tilted.  The second pic shows some serious cracks (they go quite deep) down the trunk of the tree.

The real sad part is that it isn't just some new tree.  It's about 4.5 inches thick at the trunk and quite tall.  Why the previous owners let it go like this is beyond me.  We're going to have a tree guy check it out but I'm thinking we're going to have to have it removed and then plant an new tree.
